IATF 16949:2016

The new ISO/TS 16949 is now available as IATF 16949:2016 and has been published November 01, 2016 by the IATF. This socalled 5th rules edition is effective 1st January 2017. In other words IATF16949 is now effective.
This was communicated by the IATF (International Automotive Task Force).
The new version of ISO/TS 16949 refers to ISO 9001:2015, which is the general quality management standard. This means that the IATF 16949:2016 is no longer an independent quality management standard, but the IATF16949is to be seen together with ISO 9001:2015 as a supplement to this standard.

The IATF Revision Workgroup plan was published in April 2016 for the transition to certifications under IATF 16949:2016.
Two possibilities are provided for the transition from ISO/TS 16949:2009 to IATF 16949:2016.

For ISO/TS 16949:2009 certified companies within the framework of the audit cycle or outside the auditorium. This means for your organization
• Option A: The transition to IATF 16949:2016 takes place during the auditing cycle at the recertification audit or to the next planned monitoring audit
• Option B: The transition to IATF 16949: 2016 occurs at all times, i.e. outside the audit cycle, i.e. outside the recertification audit resp. monitoring audit
The transition process is the so-called transition process of ISO/TS 16949:2009 to IATF 16949: 2016 itself consists of the following four steps, namely:
• Transition Audit
• Management of non-conformities
• Certification decision
• Exhibition certificate
